Lights, camera, yummy food... ACTION!

Hello friends :-)

I have been a busy busy bee here at Specialty Produce lately! Working on lots of fun new things like visiting fantastic farms and scrumptious restaurants and learning all sorts of facts, tricks, and tasty tidbits from chefs and other fabulous foodies.

One new project that I have been particularly enthused about are the new videos we have been making here at Specialty featuring some of our favorite restaurants as well as some delicious how-to’s and recipe sharing features.

Creating yummy little videos like these has been on my to do list forever now so I am excited that making them is now part of my job description here. It has also inspired me to at last start working on my own gluten free version of this project. I just recently shot a video at this heavenly new gluten free place and hope to have the delicious footage up in the next week. For now here are a few of my yummy videos from the Specialty Produce U-Tube channel.

My delicious desk

There was lots of fun produce picture taking and editing to be done at work today, so much so in fact that I totally lost track of time and forgot to eat lunch! Lucky for me when this happens (and it often does) there are no shortage of yummy restaurants just a hop, skip, jump or in my case short drive from my little office. Tonight’s yummy late lunch/early dinner came from Saffron in Mission Hills.

Chicken salad rolls with peanut and sriracha sauces for dipping.

As always they were delish and since I still had an ample amount of tinkering to do with the fruity photographs for the day, they were happily enjoyed at my messy desk while editing a picture of Mutsu apples.

Gluten Free tip: Saffron has lots of yummy rice noodle dishes on their menu and has gluten free soy sauce available by request, yay!

It's tomato time!!

Today I was updating some of the tomato pictures at Specialty Produce and you know what that means….

Tomato salad for lunch!

Sweet 100 Cherry Tomatoes and Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes mingled with fresh buffalo mozzarella and basil all drizzled in a rich balsamic vinegar and sprinkled with black pepper.

I know it’s not very seasonally minded of me but I don’t care! I could and happily do eat tomato salad all year long. Thank goodness I work at a produce company!

New! GF Menu at Urban Solace

As if this restaurant was not wonderful enough already, they now offer a gluten free menu that clearly points out all of their delicious dishes that are or can be made gluten free, yay! I dined there recently and wrote this yummy review for Specialty Produce….

Whistling While I Work

Been busy as a bee lately, snapping pictures at Specialty, hiring summer staff for the theater, helping keep the office organized at FDG, and baking delicious gluten free treats every chance I get. I feel so busy sometimes that it makes my head spin but overall its been an exciting few months. I know my work schedule won’t be like this forever, maybe not even for the rest of the year so I am trying to enjoy my crazy life right now just as it is. The only thing that has really saddened me is my lack of time to write consistently on here. Squeezing in more writing time is sitting pretty high on my list of priorities right now, I won’t make a promise of when because I know myself too well to do that but I will say this, it may not be this week or even this month but a semi consistent writing schedule is on the horizon and before the end of the summer I plan to be back in the saddle or more specifically in the kitchen and behind the keyboard again.

Until then here are a few blog posts I had the pleasure of writing for Specialty Produce. If you love food (and if you are reading this I imagine you do) then you are going to swoon for this yummy webby site. It's consistently packed full of delicious tidbits like scrumptious new San Diego restaurants, farmers market finds, and recipes. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
